A new kitchen for The Ark

During a visit in 2024, we found that the Ark's kitchen did not comply with health and safety regulations. The old stove was completely worn out, the chimney pipe had been corroded by heat, and the materials were old and mostly made of wood.

Mwanzo then started a fundraising campaign with the aim of raising €3,000 for a new kitchen building and materials. We raised a total of €3,117, which we used to install a completely new kitchen! Among other things, we purchased:

  • A new stove;
  • new chimney pipes;
  • a stainless steel table for cutting vegetables;
  • new knives, forks and such;
  • a freezer to keep food fresh;
  • a chainsaw to cut wood into smaller pieces so that it fits in the wood-burning stove;
  • an air fryer for snacks (healthy snacks ;-).

And in 2025, the building will even be rebuilt, slightly higher, so that it is more pleasant to work in, lighter and has more fresh air.
