Growth takes patience — and that goes for trees as much as children.
With the rainy season arriving, The Ark organised a tree-planting activity on the grounds. Not just an activity, but a lesson for life.
The children learned how to plant a tree, how to care for it, and why that matters — for themselves, for their surroundings, and for the future. It was wonderful to see how proud they were of what they had created. Working together, persevering, building something greater than yourself. Exactly the values The Ark wants to pass on to them.

A new home for a child
There is also news of a new child joining The Ark. Through the Kenyan Department of Children's Services (DCS), The Ark was able to welcome a new child in March. The situation this child was in had become untenable, and there was an urgent need for a safe place. Thankfully, that place is now there. From the very first day, work has gone into meeting basic needs such as food, clothing, and shelter. Alongside that, attention is given to emotional processing, integration into the group, and preparation for school. Every child who comes to The Ark deserves a fresh start — and that is exactly what they receive.
School results to be proud of
The children headed into the April and Easter holidays with results worth celebrating. Several of them achieved the highest assessment levels — Exceeding Expectation level 1 and 2. But they also made their mark outside the classroom: in drama, music, football, and volleyball. Some even had the honour of representing their school at regional level.
The holiday period is filled with a packed programme: from life skills and sport to talent discovery and extra tuition. Because even outside of school hours, The Ark keeps investing in the development of every child.
Family: the foundation remains
Part of The Ark's approach is actively maintaining and strengthening family ties. During the holidays, children are — where safe and possible — placed with their family or relatives for two weeks. Carefully and with guidance, but with the heart in the right place: it matters deeply for children to feel connected to their family.
