Get to know the children: Tom
In this series, we give you a glimpse into the lives of the children at The Ark. The first instalment focuses on Tom. I (Clements) have known Tom since my first visit in 2020.
Tom was about 12 years old at the time.

Tom told me then that he wants to become a brain surgeon! ‘And why is that?’ I asked him. His answer surprised me: ‘I want to give something back to the people who take care of me.’ Wow, I didn't see that coming, but it is typical of the Ark. The children grow up in a positive environment and learn to look at life in a positive way. Not with anger, but with gratitude.
Tom is now 17 and still wants to become a brain surgeon. And his school grades give no reason to consider other options :-) The grades are on an 8-point scale!

Tom is really good at everything: he loves football, is a good volleyball player, and you really have to work hard at chess if you don't want him to beat you.
